11 Does Buddhism Allow Polygamy & can Buddhist Monks Have a Wife and Children? To my biggest amazement I could not locate a single Buddhist Couple or Householder online who could have shared their family life story and life style in America or elsewhere, while practicing Dharma, as a couple.

Except for few Vedic Astrology couples, I found … none, who where happy buddhist with children … I wonder why? Is it main aspect of the philosophy we follow, that being born alone and dying alone keeps us healthier ... always alone? Family and kids are distraction to the path to Enlightenment? Or is it not? The one interesting thing I did find, which I actually already knew myself: they do practice polygamy, in reverse. One female can marry … all of the males in the same family. They protecting land right this way ... Isn‘t this amazing? We all think of Tibetan Buddhism as all Enlightened Gurus. This is another Stereotype.
